Snooker commentator David Hendon left ‘shaking’ after Saudi final

Snooker commentator David Hendon said he was left “shaking” after commentating on the dramatic deciding frame in the Saudi Arabia Masters final.

Hendon took to social media website X, formerly Twitter, to express his thoughts on a memorable final which saw Judd Trump produce a stunning final table clearance of 70 and snatch the title away from Mark Williams. The match has been hailed as the best so far this season.

The snooker expert was commentating on the final for Eurosport and Discovery Plus viewers alongside pundit Steven Hallworth.

Left shaking

Trump’s dramatic win, coming back from 62-0 down in the final frame, saw him become the first player to be crowned Saudi Arabia Masters champion. He won a massive £500,000 for doing so and increased his lead at the top of the world rankings.

Snooker commentator David Hendon said the exciting finale had made an impact on him after the match finished. He posted: “What a buzz this was. Rare to come out of the comms box shaking. Both players did the event proud.”

After his victory Trump said: “I would probably put that top of the best clearances in my career. To produce that under the utmost pressure is such a nice feeling. It is a big event which I looked like I was going to lose and I managed to turn it around in the end.

“I’m incredibly proud to be the first winner here. My record in new events is very good and I had that in the back of my mind. I always have that bit of self-belief in there when I really need it. I managed to rely on that today and make that incredible clearance.”
