Reanne Evans set for prize money record after superb start to season

Twelve-times women’s world champion Reanne Evans is set to break her own snooker prize money career record after a superb start in the Saudi Arabia Masters.

Evans has reached the third round of the big-money ranking event in Jeddah and will play Jack Lisowski on Sunday (August 10) aiming to cause a huge upset.

It means she is guaranteed at least £7,000 in prize money from the event after her wins against Kreishh Gurbaxani and Liam Davies.

It follows up a fine start to the season for Evans who has also bagged qualifying wins in the British Open and Wuhan Open.

So far this season she has won more than £14,000 in prize money making it one of her best ever seasons ever with only a handful matches played so far.

Evans told World Snooker Tour after her first round win in Jeddah she was wanting to play with a relaxed mindset. And it appears to be working.

She said: “I am trying to relax more this season, just trying to play rather than trying to win. There are good and bad days but I’ve had three good ones so far. It’s great to experience new places and I have won so I’m enjoying it!”

Snooker star Reanne Evans tells of undiagnosed tremor

According to snooker database website Cuetracker, Evans only managed just over £4k in prize money in the last two seasons.

Her best season for prize money was in 2018/19 when she won over £15,500 – so with more than £14,000 won so far this campaign, there is a very good chance a new career high is on the cards.

In 2023 Evans spoke of health issues affecting her game. She spoke about an undiagnosed tremor which has impacted her performances on the table.

In an interview with World Women’s Snooker she said: “When it first started it was quite bad. There was a lot of publicity around women playing on the main tour, with the tour cards coming in. Matches were on TV and I was under the microscope.

“Most of last season (2022/23), I had no feeling in my arm whatsoever. I was questioning whether I play quick, whether I play jabby or slowly. Nothing seemed to work. I didn’t know if I was coming or going. All the way down the right side of my body was shaking.”
