New global snooker streaming channel ‘WST Play’ set to launch

New online snooker streaming channel WST PLAY is to launch in early 2025, it has been announced.

It will allow fans around the world to watch the entire season either live or on-demand.

It will launch prior to the Masters on January 7 and in time for the Players Series and be in full flow during the countdown to the World Championship.

Details of how much snooker streaming channel WST PLAY will cost fans will be announced in due course.

WST PLAY will replace the service currently available on Matchroom Live. Fans in territories where snooker is not otherwise broadcast will be able to watch the action live from every event on the WST calendar.*

WST PLAY will also feature new content and rare archive footage. This includes every Ronnie O’Sullivan Triple Crown final victory and more than 80 hours of him at his best.

All existing Matchroom.Live annual subscribers who wish to cancel their memberships will be eligible for a pro-rata refund. This will be refunded as the pro-rata amount they have paid until January 6. The deadline to claim is January 31.

The new snooker streaming channel WST PLAY was announced on World Snooker Tour’s social media channels on Wednesday afternoon (December 11).

Fans appeared to be excited about the new channel. But there were others who questioned whether it would have an impact on existing broadcast deals within the sport.

But WST said in a statement: “Those in territories covered by existing broadcast agreements will be able to watch all available matches back 30 days after broadcast, with over 250 matches already available from the 2024/25 season.”
